Abstract
This article is the result of a documentary review whose purpose is to contrast the theories of Piaget, Skinner, Chomsky and Halliday in relation to how children's language is acquired and developed. It has its origin in an exploratory documentary research project whose purpose is to specify if language is an innate or environmental fact? So, studying the social, cultural and cognitive aspects will be pertinent to elucidate the question raised. It is possible to be said that the differences between nativists and environmentalists present a discrepancy of great emphasis. The first stream reflects the philosophical-logical line, with its concept of language as a syntactic rule. On the other hand, the environmental concept is represented by the ethnographic tradition, defining grammatical in a general way. Therefore, the study of language will continue to be a subject of research by linguists, educators, psychologists, because it contains contributions from environmentalist and innatism theory.
