Sceneries in conflict: identity and culture

Abstract

At the beginning of the XXI century, what we know about the categories identity and culture is all that philosophy, psychology, sociology, anthropology and history have bequeathed to us from their plotted and multiple interpretations. From the perspective of our roles as teachers, it is necessary to raise our awareness about culture and our individual and collective identities as starting point to understand the construction, not only of the social field, but also of the person, so that in this way we are capable of unleashing the knot of the discourse of collective uniformity to which we have been tied and imbued with for centuries. This study pretends people to reflect about identity and culture beyond their conceptualizations, which denote an old scenery of conflicts, being its protagonist the person that, as a social being, assumes the configuration of his/her cultural identity, not under compulsion, but as a natural right that guides the practice of a liberating praxis.
