Abstract

This paper presents results of a study aiming to determine the motivation and leadership of management personnel in the Bolivarian High School Maestro "Jorge Antonio Rodriguez" (Liceo Bolivariano Maestro Jorge Antonio Rodríguez) in El Cercado community - Lara State. This research was based upon the positivist paradigm, under a descriptive, field research. The subjects of study included forty (40) classroom teachers and three (03) member of the principal bureau. Among the findings, it was observed that although the management team from this institution feels motivated by their job, they perform few actions that encourage teachers who work there. The practiced leadership types are the charismatic one and laissez faire. Thus, it was concluded the need to periodically grant awards to teachers, make teaching action circles and offer workshops for the human and professional growth.
