Abstract
In educational institutions the principal must be committed to educational policies, attached to the law. The main goal of the present study was to research on the knowledge of school directors from their academic education about educational legislation and the relationship with educational practice. To fulfill the objective, a descriptive/explicative study was conducted. Population was represented by thirty six (36) directors from the Municipality of Gaspar Marcano in Nueva Esparta State. Data were gathered through a survey, the instrument was a written questionnaire of 28 semi-closed items. Results were analyzed through absolute and percentage distributions. The main conclusion lies on the need that managers use in the pedagogical practice the laws regulating the Venezuelan education system, taking into account that it is an important tool for administrative processes and thus to reach educational quality.
