Abstract

One of the difficulties that autism spectrum disorder (ASD) presents is language, which results in a low communicative intention with peers and adults. Therefore, a bibliographic review was carried out on the use of the story as an enhancer of language. For this, the literature between 2000 and 2020 was systematically selected, from different databases, from which results were obtained on the number of articles published per year, areas where the subject is investigated more, country where more articles were published related to the subject, and children's literature directed at children with autism. It is concluded that the potentialization of language in children with autism from the story is very efficient if a pertinent adaptation of conventional stories is carried out, taking into account reading methods and the use of pictograms either physically or technologically that benefit the understanding of the text
